We only had two hours at the museum and we spent most of it on the beautiful grounds.
The Getty buildings have such beautiful architecture. The view is pretty wonderful, too.
This is looking toward downtown.
And this is the view of the Pacific.
The grounds were so beautiful and so was the sunset.
I love that you can see the bright star above the tree.
That line of lights is the 405 freeway which was still backed up from the fire.
The Getty Museum has many buildings, but we only had time to see one before they closed.
But we got to see some of my favorites!

This image I pulled from the internet machine doesn't even come close to doing the actual painting justice.
The impasto is just SO beautiful.

It's a good thing there was glass over the painting or I would have touched it. A lot.

I referenced this one in our bloggy just a few posts ago. Of course it is much more impressive in person!
Love, Love, LOVE The Getty. I can't wait to go back.
On Monday we went to the L.A. County Fair. I had no idea what to expect. I didn't think people in L.A. county were raising animals or crops, but I thought they would probably have a big photography exhibit (there are just as many photographers in SoCal as there are actors!) and some other normal fair stuff like deep fried twinkies.
The Sunday before we went to the fair, my Aunt B told us that the California State Fair had already occurred. Which is strange because usually the county fair winners continue on to the state fair... This should have tipped us off that the L.A. County Fair is not a normal fair.
The L.A. County Fair is basically a carnival. Tons of rides, games, and shopping. TONS.
I think the ferris wheel makes a great crown.
We did watch the pig races which were a lot of fun. But the pigs and owner were from Idaho. I'm pretty sure the animals in the petting zoo were from Idaho, too. That was the extent of the animals. Oh, except the Budweiser Clydesdales that were in show pens that were too small for them to even turn around in.
The photography, craft, and baking exhibits were each so small that they were all in the same building on the same floor. And they weren't much to look at.

So fun to see what you are doing. Did you plan the ferris wheel crown? Perfect!
ReplyDeleteHaha. We are totally not talented enough to plan the ferris wheel crown. The same thing with my Statue of Liberty hat from Aunt J in NYC.
