We went to The Getty and saw some cool art and a cool sunset.
We celebrated T's birthday.
Visited the L.A. Temple.
The visitor's center just re-opened a few weeks ago. It is VERY cool. There's lot of interactive things for kids and adults. This was obviously taken in a portion geared more towards kids...
We walked Rodeo Drive and drove around Bel-Air.
We went to Diddy Riese for some treats.
Best ice cream sandwiches ever! Sooooo good and soooo big. And only $1.50!
(These weren't ours, just some random person's from the internet machine to give you an idea of the size.)
Of course we hit the beach. It was about 100 degrees so it was a great day to go to the beach.
But, like always, the Pacific was frigid!
We went boogie boarding, basked in the sun, and looked for shells for H's babies.
Straight from the beach we went to C&O's for dinner.
Check out H's beautiful beach waves! And this was coming straight from the beach! I was a bit jealous.
We went to The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. None of us had been before. It was pretty incredible.
Petting small rays.
Check out our Vanna White skills.
The worker bees cut out the top part of a shark egg so you could see inside. We could see the shark moving and the heart beating and stuff. It was trippy.
H with some jelly fish. They gross me out, but H is a big fan.
It was SO hot outside. It was the hottest day on record ever in Los Angeles. 113 degrees!
Petting size ginormous rays! They each weigh about 150 lbs!
Petting bamboo sharks.
Even though M was kinda grossed out about touching stuff, she did it anyway! And don't worry, mom. There was hand sanitizer and sinks with soap readily available. And thank goodness.
Checking out the sharks. We went back later and saw them feed the sharks. Cool stuff. Obviously this was not a petting station.
This one totally looks like he wants to eat us.
Some of the tanks were so full. And the fish never swam into each other. How is that even possible?!
This is the underside of a ray. I think it looks like a ghost... It was really cool to watch them eat. The divers would put the food right up against the glass and we could see them suck it right into their mouths.
These sea anemones (or whatever they may be) were so colorful.
Yes, I am checking out a children's exhibit. Those stick looking things are eels!
The octopus was kinda freaking me out... With all those crazy legs they are kinda like the spiders of the sea... At least to me...
Can you spot the company trying to get some good PR?
The famous Ms. Coon face makes an appearance!
It's Finding Nemo!
Another shark egg with the top layer taken off.
Tropical fish are so colorful! Love that hot pink one!
Then we made the short hike to the Hollywood sign
Then we headed to Hollywood. The town.
As we were coming out of the parking garage H saw these Avatar people from a distance and wanted a picture. So H and I raced ahead of T and M. We were almost to the Avatar people when this guy started flirting with me and H. I told him we were both married. But he didn't care. We couldn't seem to shake him. Then he leaned in and tried to kiss me on the cheek! Luckily my hair was in the way so there wasn't any actual contact. Then T and M caught up to us and the flirting guy disappeared. But the Avatar people were still around so we got H that picture! Only in Hollywood!
P.S. If you didn't already know Avatar is basically Disney's Pocahontas.
The reason we went to Hollywood is to see a live taping of the Jimmy Kimmel show. So even though it was 113 degrees and we had to wait outside for an hour to get in, we had to wear pants and no white as part of the audience rules. Luckily we were in the shade.
The taping was a lot quicker than I thought it would be. I guess part of that is that they had pre-recorded Sigourney Weaver's interview so we only saw a monologue, the Tom Bergernon interview and the musical guest. It was pretty interesting to see how a live taping was done though.
We hit up Grauman's Chinese Theater before the show started. This is me with the Star Wars Square! That's R2D2, C3PO, and Darth Vader!
This would be Bruce Willis. Well, at least his foot and hand prints.
Snow White's star!
I'm so glad these girls came to visit. We had such a blast. I definitely needed it.
Such a fun weekend! Yay for friends!
