Yesterday was pi day (3/14) and even though I love pie we didn't eat any. I pretty much only like fruit based pies and T pretty much only likes cream based pies. I don't make many pies because I would eat the whole thing myself. And while that would be oh, so delicious, it would also make me oh, so chubby. It's a huge bummer because I have 17 pie recipes bookmarked that I want to try. At least we both hate seafood.
I dyed a three things this week even though I had never dyed anything before.
I loved these white heels, but they were no longer white - they were a yucky spotted brown and yellow. So I dyed them purple. The blue is painter's tape so the cork would not be dyed purple as well. The painter's tape started to come off in they dye bath. Luckily it only came off the sole, not the cork, so the shoes still look great. Yay, new shoes for me!
My NYC cousin M gave me a few things when I saw her last weekend. This cropped jacket / shirt was a blah pink-brown color. It turned out a much brighter shade of purple than I would have liked, but I still think it looks okay. Trust me, it looks better in person.
This one is hard to tell. I didn't take a before picture. It was cream and I dyed it a light sage color.
Anyway, it was fast and cheap ($1.66 per color) to dye these things. The method is relatively easy but unfortunately all the directions are horrible! I did a lot of internet-ing and used the dye's website and it was still 85% guesswork. If you want to try dying stuff, let me know and I'll tell you all the things I learned! I definitely wouldn't try it on anything you are already attached to or need an exact certain color, but if the item was blah and you would throw it out otherwise, a bit of dye can make a fun difference.
We bought a couch. Go team! It's a small sectional that is dark brown leather. It was kinda pricey (to us, but not compared to everything else in the store!) but we are going to own those couches forever. It is back-ordered and won't arrive for 4-6 weeks so we're still using the porch swing as a couch.
We bought plane tickets to Utah for all those June weddings! SOOOOOO excited for our long visit.
I filled out my March Madness bracket. It's hard to fill out a bracket when you haven't seen a single game all year and all you have to rely on is the bits you catch from SportsCenter as you sporadically work out. I have Duke wining it all. Just like I have for the last 15 tournaments. But this year (like last year and let's be honest - every year) Duke winning it all is totally legit. I have BYU making it as far as the Sweet 16.
