Exactly one week ago on the elevator a stranger asked me if I was going to have a boy or a girl. I guess the cat is out of the bag.
Right now, it's all quiet on the pregnancy front (P.S. a blatant rip off from the WWI novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" which I recently read. PS2 "The Things They Carried" must have been incredibly influenced by "All Quiet on the Western Front." Both have the same vibe just different wars (WWI and Vietnam) and make me just sick to think about how terrible war is. But both are incredibly well written and insightful books.)
Morning sickness (or all-day sickness in my case) has been over for about a month. Most of the time now I feel so normal that it's like I'm not even pregnant. I'm 19 weeks along, which is almost half way. I'm still not showing that much, which isn't unusual for a first pregnancy, but I'm not counting on it for the next time (yes, we're pretty sure we will have more than one). Here's a photo:
I started feeling the baby move on the 14th and it is so reassuring. Well, actually I had felt the baby move a week before that two nights in a row, but I wasn't sure because it didn't feel how other people said it would. But it is clearly baby and definitely NOT like anything I've ever felt before. Being pregnant is the strangest thing that has ever happened to me. Anyway, I'm feeling the baby move more and more and T felt it move on Monday.
We find out on the 23rd if it's a boy or a girl. Even though I love surprises, we are totally finding out. To the people who say, "That's the ultimate surprise. Don't you want to be surprised?" I say, "We WILL be surprised. On the 23rd. At the doctor's office." We have names picked out and even though we won't share them on the blog we're not keeping them secret, so just ask if you want to know. We will need a nickname for baby on the blog though. Any suggestions?
