Happy Hollow

Yesterday Pippa and I went to Happy Hollow with the M girls.  Happy Hollow is a small (small!) amusement park and zoo geared toward younger kids.  The target age range is probably 3-6.  There are about 7 rides, a petting zoo, a regular zoo, and several playgrounds.  We had a fabulous time!  If we lived closer we would totally get a season pass.

Pippa was too small for some of the rides, but she still went on four of them.

The rides go fairly fast (well, fast for a 1 year old) and I wasn't sure how she would handle it, but as soon as the ride started going she got a huge grin and she shouted "Wheee!"  I do think it helped that her little friend, J sat next to her on the ride.

After each ride was over, Pippa would sign "Again.  Again."  And then she would cry as I pulled her out to go get in line because she wanted to go again right then.  She totally has no concept of waiting in line, either (though at this age I definitely don't expect her to).

She was having the best time and I was having the best time watching her having the best time.

The fire trucks have a bell you can ring and that is what all the noise is.  I did put her in a fire truck once but she only pulled the bell twice then focused her energy on spinning the steering wheel and waving to her adoring fans (ie anyone who looked at her).

The last ride we did was the carousel.  It was actually the first ride we did as well.  Pippa loved it the first two times, but the third time she started crying.  Who knows what the difference was.  Maybe she was just tired - she did sleep on the way home.

We did visit the petting zoo (without touching any of the animals - yuck!) and the regular zoo parts.  But Pippa still isn't that into animals.  The only ones that really held her interest were the parrots.
