I love dying and hunting for Easter eggs. Like really, really love it. My parents humor me and we kept dying and hiding eggs even after I graduated from college. By that time I had to share with the grandkids! And that made it even more fun! Even though we dyed and hunted eggs with my family in Utah I wanted to do it again.
Except I don't like to eat hard boiled eggs and neither does T. Luckily, I know that you can dye raw eggs (I have done it before with my parents when I wanted to dye more eggs than we had hard boiled ones). We just used the tablets with water - which produces pastel colors. Vinegar with the tablets produces bright colors, but T was concerned that the eggs might taste vinegar-y. So just water it was...
We hid the eggs for each other and had a fabulous time. We also ate an entire bag of SweetTart jelly beans in under 24 hours. So, sometimes being a grown-up is pretty cool.
We watched General Conference which was perfect for Easter Sunday. I missed some of it because I had to work.
While I was at work there was an earthquake. T felt it at home and said he definitely knew it was a quake right away even though nothing fell off the shelves. I did not feel or notice a thing at work though people on higher floors did because the building is on rollers. Dang building codes. Just kidding. I know building codes are for everyone's safety, but I'm a bit bummed that I missed my first quake. I'm sure I would say otherwise if the epicenter had been closer to us.
The recent earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, and Mexico have been a bit of an incentive for us to finish up our 72 hour kits. We already have our emergency plans in place. Seeing how people at work reacted to the quake makes me think that we are way ahead of a lot of SoCal residents in quake preparedness. And we're still SoCal earthquake newbies!
