My side's bridal shower was exactly what every shower before me had been. And I loved it. I love our family traditions. We tied mine and T's wedding quilt and chatted.
Cousin K and me
Aunt J, my mom, T's mom
Sister in Law S, T's sister K, Sister M, Aunt D
Side note: Usually my mom and Aunt J choose the fabric for the quilt since they make the quilt. But since it was my mom, she let me pick. My mom picked out the striped sheet and I loved it. Finding a matching navy blue for the other side was hard!
comparing the blues the day before (or of?) my bridal shower
We bought five different shades of navy. Picking the right shade was difficult and subject to much hearsay.
Since it was my shower I got to snip most of the ties! If you know my family you know that I love to do this. After I got home I snipped the ties all very short. I don't like them long.
My Aunt J made vegetable pizza (LOVE that), my sister made individual cheese cakes (LOVE that), and sister in law S made a yummy bread / tomato / chicken thing (LOVE that) among other yummy food stuffs..
While people were eating and quilting I played Polly Pockets for a quick minute with my niece, R.
Side note two: I had real bangs - not swoopy bangs - here. And I liked them. My bangs have grown out since the worst haircut ever and are now about this same length. Except now I don't like my bangs. I think it's because the non-swoopy short bangs contrasted nicely with my formerly long hair but short bangs with short hair looks bad to me.Back to the shower:
Then we played a game where I (and everyone) had to match T's responses. I did pretty well. There were some gimme questions like where we met (at school in SoCal - specifically at church) and our first date (One Man Band). A fun question: what kind of animal is Susan most like? I said a deer because I'm shy. T said a raccoon because I'm mischievous. Another fun question: If T was a superhero who would he be? I said Batman because he has all the tech-y gadgets. T said Superman.
I'm flexing because I won. Also because flexing is one of my favorite poses despite my lack of muscles.
Then I opened presents and we did the wishing game. I take the first present and without knowing who it is from I make a wish for that person. Something like "I wish you a years worth of new and comfortable shoes." Then I read the card to see who it is from. That person then makes a wish for the next gift giver as I open the next present, again, not knowing who it is from. Something along the lines of "I wish this person a year with no car trouble." Or "I wish this person a relaxing vacation to a tropical paradise." I love this game.
T's Aunt P and cousins threw the other shower for me a week later. They were so sweet they even asked me what food I wanted to have served! I said cheesecake and fruit - yum! I don't like chocolate very much, but the rest of T's family sure does so we had some chocolate for the masses as well.
I wish I had some pictures, but I didn't bring a camera and T's family isn't as camera happy as mine. We chatted and then I had to introduce ALL of the people there. And there were about 25 people there. I got them all, even two of T's aunts who I had only met once before, but I totally had a brain freeze on Cousin C who I knew pretty well! Sorry Cousin C! I still feel bad about it.
We also played the question game except I was the only one who had to answer and for every question I got wrong I had to eat a piece of bubble-yum. And those things are huge! And since I know you want to know here are the questions with T's answers in blue and mine in black. Some of the questions were the same as the questions at my first shower. And I still missed them because I thought (mistakenly)T would change his answers to mine!
