Heat Wave

It's hot here.  Big shock.  It's hot everywhere.

It's 102 degrees outside and 92 degrees inside the apartment.

Our AC unit is atrocious.
It's about four inches off the floor.
It cools the five feet straight ahead of it.  If you are not within those five feet you can't even tell that the AC is on.  When I say the AC unit only cools directly in front of it, I'm not kidding.  If you sit on the floor in front of the unit and raise your hand you can tell that the air by your hand is at least 15 degrees warmer.

Even when we run the unit ALL DAY the only cool spot in the entire apartment is in front of the AC unit.
We pulled the mattress off the bed and put it in front of the AC unit to sleep because it is SO miserable at night.  But that doesn't do much either.  When I sleep with my back to the AC unit (on the mattress on the floor) my back is freezing and my chest is sweating.  There's no sleeping going on because it is so miserable at night.

The last time we cooked anything was Monday.  It's just too hot to turn on the stove or oven.

I think I know why there is always fighting in the Middle East.  It's because it is so hot and it makes everyone cranky!

In theory, the complex owners should be coming to check out our AC unit on Monday, but I don't have high hopes for them repairing or replacing it.  Oh, how I long for my parent's cool Utah basement!

  1. Oooh. I feel for you. Sending you some cool basement vibes. Go to a store or library and sit in some AC! Freeze some ice cubes for some cold drinks!

  2. We were talking to someone about who had no AC or Swamp Cooler in their apt, they put their sheets in their freezer! Just an idea!
